About the Book
Get Serious About Your Life is a supplementary textbook of critical thinking, reading and writing activities that empower students for constructive living. Filled with positive ideas, this book counters the negative messages students see and hear in today's media. It encourages young people to take responsibility for themselves and to make choices each day that will be beneficial to them.
The 120 real-lived stories are interesting and engaging, and they are told with teens in mind. In addition, students have a great time with the assigned writing activities and the hands-on, authentic learning projects. The authentic learning projects in Get Serious About Your Life include television station editorials, interviews with "research psychologists," singing, drawing, making collages, literary circle discussions, taking notes, outlining, writing poems and raps, giving virtual tours of their dream homes, producing a television program, and calling banks, stock brokers, and real estate companies to learn how to invest the money they will make during their working careers.
